July brings the Healing Home into full view. FOX40 joined us in Sacramento for a first look inside the property, walking the rooms where men returning from incarceration will continue the healing they began inside. It is the story we have been building toward for nearly thirty years, and it is close now. Every gift between now and September helps pay off the property, finish renovations, and prepare the home to receive its first residents. Our unwavering community of supporters helped us get 65 percent of the way there.

October’s Outside Circle Weekend Intensive is nearly full. A few spots remain for those ready to begin a journey of transformation: three days in San Francisco examining their stories, deepening self-awareness, and building real connection with others doing the same work. The circle holds what you bring. Held in San Francisco October 9 through 11, open to all genders, with sliding scale rates and scholarships available. January dates will be announced soon.

From inside, Watching Shepherd offers “The Essence of a Man,” a poem that moves through lineage and power and closes on a question worth sitting with: does the shade define the essence, or does the essence define the shade?

On the podcast, Keilen Crenshaw traces the full arc, from a school hallway in DC to the Middle Fork of the American River, where getting thrown from a raft and coming up gasping taught him something prison never could. Now a recovery support counselor at Jubilee Housing in Washington, D.C., he brings that hard-won wisdom directly to the men who need it most. It is a conversation about the difference between surviving and living.
